Day 2: Frist Day of "not" Shopping :)

Day 2

Routines went OK today.  Both the kids and I did most of our morning routine and I continued to de Christmas the house.  Fred helped a lot with the de Christmasing work.   I think we have 95% of the Christmas stuff out in the garage.  I know this is only Day 2 of the project and I am at the end of a long vacation but I feel really good about the progress that I am making in the house.  Several unexpected positive things have happened today.

  • I have a menu for this week.
  • I have ordered my groceries for the week.
  • I have started using flylady's online calender.
  • I cleaned out the fridge, freezer, and pantry.
  • Fred is noticing that I am trying to keep to the project!
This morning as Fred and I were getting ready I told him that today would be interesting since it would be my frist trip out of the house & shopping with a friend.  He laughed and said that he was thinking about that too.  It made me smile that he was thinking about our project!  I really want this to be a family project and not a Nicole project.  But really,  he was probally just wondering if I would buy anything.

Well, I have survived my first shopping trip without purchasing anything new!  My girlfriend asked me to go shopping with her to help her spend her Christmas Gift Cards!  We went out to lunch and shopping.  We had a great time visiting and spending her money!  I was not tempted to buy anything for myself however, I did pick up a book I was thinking about for Carrie Beth.  As soon as I picked it up I put it back down and thought to myself...maybe I will see that at the thrift store.  Ha!  Anyway,  I am proud that I made it out and back without buying anything new.

I asked my friend who I was shopping with if she thought  I could go a year without buying anything new?  She said NO WAY!!  Well, we will see.   At least I am going to be well aware of what I am buying and thinking twice before I buy new.

While I was shopping Fred took the kids to lunch and a craft store to purchase items for the Pinewood Derby.  The kids also bought some craft material with their Christmas money.  I am going to have to check and see how much Christmas money is left!!
