Our Superbowl Entertainment!

Our Superbowl Entertainment!

Our Superbowl Entertainment!

What a difference a week can make! (actually...2)

Andie arrived to our house skinny and shy.

Andie the on his first night with us.  Looking lonely and tired.  At least he is resting on the $50 dog bed that I bought for Kai.  Who evidently does not think it is suitable for her as she will not us it.

Fred, Carrie Beth and I all trying to snap a picture of Andie.

Look how skinny Andie is.  Most of that is hair...his hair hides his spine, ribs. and hip bones.

He is happy now!  We have enjoyed our watching him fatten up and learn to have fun.  These pictures are not my best...but you still get the idea of happy.  Right?

Cream puff has had enough photographing.
Look at him now!  He is gaining weight and very sweet and happy!

Andie gets a bath and Kai (almost) always smells great!

Andie
Well Andie, If you are going to sleep on our bed, you can't smell stinky.  My good friends at Petco gave Andie his first bath while in my care.  They told me he was a very good boy.  He was not a fan of getting in the car for the journey but Kai showed him how it was done.  Kai kept jumping in and out of the car and finally Andie jumped in too.  He did great once he was in the car.  He is going to make someones family very happy :)   This picture is after Andies bath.  He smells so good I just want to hug him.  And I do.

Kai
Kai our family dog has been with us for 11 months and she is the best dog the Noon's have ever had.  (This does not including my first dog Ginnie...she was THE best dog ever she was a Pharr not a Noon.)  But, please don't tell Kai she is super fabulous herself.  Kai has enjoyed playing with Andie.  Being that Kai is perfect in every way she has been teaching Andie all her good habits.  I will share some of those stories soon!

A Day with Sandy! Was it really just a Day?

First of all I want to say that Sandy dog's family are dear friends.  When I asked Karen how she thought I treated Sandy while in my care...her answer was:  I have no doubt that you took better care of Sandy than you did Kai.  And just so you know I treated her dog  like the high maintenance princess that she is  like part of our family.  And it wore me out and I never thought they would return.   Sandy was loved, fed, walked, spoiled, and truly forgot all of her doggie good manners!  For real.  That is not a joke.

Sandy Dog.  She is so pretty and soft.  I have always loved her and she loves me.
Kai and Sandy chilling out on the deck.  Oh, and the weather was rainy almost the whole time Sandy was with us.  Maybe that is why it seemed like we kept her a week.
Sorry Sandy, new grill no BBQ droppings under there.
Carrie Beth posing with Sandy.  Sandy begging CB to let her in the house!
Kai and Sandy teaching Andie how to play.  That is my bed and I am not sharing.  Hopefully,  I will be able to load a video.

Kai and Sandy teaching Andie how to play chase!  Please do not knock over my laundry!

Sandy is such a sweet girl she loved teaching Andie some of her bad habits like how to bark.  They pretty much barked at everything that moved until Sandy was picked up by her family at 5:07 on Monday afternoon.
Sandy telling Andie:  Go bark at that leaf blowing in the wind.  Nicole loves it, the louder  the better.  Every time we all 3 get to barking she comes out for a visit.

Sandy and Kai looking in.  The kittens are probably teasing them at the door.

Sunday night when I went to bed,I felt like I had been with 2 year old children all day long.  I put the dogs in there beds and I fell into bed like a zombie.  When we woke up the next morning I realized that I had not turned off any lights.  Exhausted.
Karen, Sandy Dog is welcome to come for a visit or extended stay anytime!  Love you!!

Andie arrives at the Noon's

It was a rainy foggy night when Annette arrived with Andie.  She brought him in the house, gave us a pep talk, and was on her way.  Annette is such a funny lady...she had tons of stories and I know we could  become fast friends!  I could tell that she loves working with the CARE network.

After Annette walked out the door Andie looked out the window as if to say, woahhh wait just a minute, you forgot me!!  I felt sorry for the poor little guy.  My daughter went crazy over him, he did not chase our cats, and our dog seemed OK with the visitor.  So far so good.

Carrie Beth and I went to a school activity about 10 minutes after Andie arrived.  On the way she starts to cry and ask, "can we keep him?"  Uh, no you promised you would not cry when he goes to his real home.  She told me she was not crying but her eyes just were full of water.  OK, Carrie Beth but remember this is supposed to be fun.  When we returned home both dogs were in the bedroom with Fred watching TV.  Andie was laying on Kai's $50 orthopeidic doggie bed and Kai was in our bed.  Kai refuses to sleep on his doggie bed so I was happy that Andie was enjoying it.

Our whole family slept in the master bedroom on Friday night.  The kids were super excited about Andie's arrival.  Andie slept on the dog bed.  We got up about 100 times to take pups outside for potty breaks.  Nothing exciting to report which is a good thing.

I was very busy on Saturday but Fred and the kids were home most of the day with the exceptation of a couple of hours.  Kai is crate trained and we found out that Andie is not particulary fond of her "house" aka crate.  But with a treat and a lot of coxing he will go in.  Kai on the other hand loves her house and will rest in there by choice.  No accidents or issues while in their house!  We use the house to protect our house while we are gone :)

On Saturday, I got an email from Rhonda laying out simple care directions to meet the needs of Andie.

Nicole,
How was the first night with Andie? Thank you so much for fostering him...Poor
baby is thin and I am sure a little scared.

The name of our vet is Roxboro Animal Hospital-vet records are under Chances
Angel Rescue- Andie. He has been vaccinated for rabies, bordetella, and
distemper/parvo, he weighs 38 lbs.

When feeding him, he should get about 1.5 cups 3 times a day for 2-3 days and
then increase his amount to 2.5 cups 3 times a day. We have to gradually build
him up b/c he is so thin and if he overeats right now, it could cause him to
throw the food up.

I may call you today just to talk for a bit..let me know when a good time is. If
you need to reach me for any reason, my home # is 555-555-555 and my cell is
555-555-555. Please let me know if you need anything for Andie. We do our best
to great care of our foster pets.

Rhonda

Rhonda,

So far so good with Andie!  He is doing well.   As he is getting comfortable in our house he is becoming slightly possessive of the food.  Normal I am sure.  Tomorrow I am going to change the feeding schedule and follow the guidelines that you suggest.  Then, every dog will eat at the same time & the food will be removed.  Nothing to be possessive of if there is plenty to go around:)  I am going to do his bath tomorrow or Monday depending on the weather.

Last night, the whole family slept in the master bedroom.  Kids and Andie on the
floor, parents & family dog in the bed.  Cats were removed for their safety and
ours :) I did not want to wake up to a disaster...cats were not impressed with
their removal as they complained outside the bedroom door on and off through the
night.  When I woke up the Alpha Cat Cream Puff was sleeping in our room too.
Surely, he slipped in as we were taking out the dogs during the night.

Andie is going to be a great family dog.  He does not chase the cats which has
been a huge blessing for my nerves!  Cream Puff acts like he is the boss of all
the animals and I really think he is.  That just cracks me up!

Pictures to follow soon.

Call anytime.
